Raised peaks along border

Hi Just started to learn this amazing tool. I am getting these raised peeks on the border of the mesh, which is inside the boundary of the contours. Any Ideas how to get rid of these?

Hi Aleed!

Thank you, and welcome to the Holygon Community Forum!

Yes, rogue elevations along a newly Formed terrain Rim is a known artifact. It happens sometimes.

Your example looks horrible. Let me help you.

For now, a simple workaround is that you Form using 2 preselected input groups:

1 elevations group, and

1 mask group.

The Mask group can be a simple rectangle, grouped, and hovering above or below your terrain. The mask should have a smaller plan footprint than your input elevations. Seen from the top, your input contours should thus protrude outside your mask.

This way, the mask helps Form only a subset of your elevations. You should see fewer or no Rim artifacts in the mask-Formed terrain.

If you wish, please also email Holygon Support a download link to your file, so we can reproduce your issue. This can help team Holygon to fix it, so it no longer occurs in the first place.

Thanks Felix. I have used the method outlined above and still got the results shown. Where do I send the file to for you to look over?

Thanks. Let’s have a closer look at this.

Please go to support.holygon.com, and here, email us a download link to your full Sketchup model file.

We want to be able to easily reproduce your issue, so we can fix its underlying cause.

Thanks and done. fingrs crossed you can help The App looks really good and hopefully it will help a lot with the comming workload.

just realised I sent over the wrong file. sorry. I have re imported the spline contours and I can not replicte the error. all seems to be working. dont know what happened there. I will continue my learning. Diolch. L

Good to hear that it’s working for you now.

Forming terrain with a separate Mask group also selected is a good way to get a well-formed terrain border from the start.

If you need more support – just post here on the Forum.
